Outdoor Events in Columbus Georgia
Hiking, biking, boating, water skiing, kayaking, rafting, walking, jogging, running, bird watching, hunting, and fishing are all options in Columbus, Georgia thanks in part to a combination of the Chattahoochee River, our Rails to Trails paths, and our local conservancy organizations. The weather in Columbus is mild most of the year letting the area residents spend much of the year outdoors if they wish.
Columbus State University, in conjunction with Auburn University, has programs that rehabilitate injured birds of prey and release them back into the wild at the Oxbow Meadows Environmental Complex. Other groups such as Trees Columbus and the RiverKeeper organizations work to maintain a balance in Columbus’s arboreal quality and quantity, and the health of the river.
